Itinerary
A representative will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo for an amazing day trip to Alexandria, the historic city founded by Alexander the Great.
Your tour begins with a visit to Pompey’s Pillar, constructed in honor of the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally part of the Temple of Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and the Caesarean.
Next, drive to the famous Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, the largest Roman cemetery in Egypt, consisting of three levels carved deep into the rock and reflecting a unique blend of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman art.
Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Alexandria before continuing to Citadel of Qaitbay, built in the 15th century on the exact site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria (Pharos), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Your final stop will be the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a major cultural center commemorating the ancient Library of Alexandria.
At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
